What we do for you

The cooperative partners with local developers, contractors, retailers, financial institutions, and government agencies to create a simple path to homeownership. Their new construction projects provide fresh alternatives in real estate, with a focus on serving young families across the region.

We guide you through every aspect of the home building process, including the often complicated finances. And if you’re not looking to build, our affordable model homes are available for sale right now.

Our History

NMHC was created in 1998 through a joint effort between USDA – Rural Development and MMCDC. We were created as a cooperative to partner together and build affordable, yet sustainable housing throughout Northwest Minnesota.

The Cooperative has built over 250 homes in northwest Minnesota, impacting Bagley, Bemidji, Crookston, Fosston, Frazee, Goodridge, Holt, Newfolden, Red Lake Falls, Solway, St. Hilaire, and Thief River Falls. In addition to home building, NMHC offers inspection services for military veterans on behalf of the St. Paul Veterans Affairs office.
